DAFFODIL DAYS
Welcome Wagon participates each year in the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days. We sell the flowers and the money goes to the cancer fund. They have a table, chair, flowers, cash box, ect. all set up for us. Bring a book to read or some sewing while you sell flowers,. They really just sell themselves they are so lovely! A specific date will be given as soon a possible, but it is typically in the middle of March. |
SOUP KITCHEN CASSEROLES
Our soup kitchen casseroles are provided to the "Our Daily Bread" Soup kitchen located at 311 South George Street in downtown york. The Soup Kitchen serves hot meals to needy people and relies on volunteers to survive. We pitch in and prepare and deliver simple pasta based casseroles 5 times a year in aluminum foil tins provided by the soup kitchen. Casseroles are due on the 4th Thursday between 8 and 11 am of Sept, Jan, Feb, April, Aug. We use pans which the kitchen provides. Recipe will be available online soon!

COOKIE MOMS
This weekly meeting has now attracted up to 40 children. What a great way to help the community. Cookie moms provide cookies for the inner city youth of York who participate in "Empowering Youth: Stop the Violence" program, run through the YWCA. Coming from homes where lives are dictated by the demands of drug and alcohol addiction, these youngsters are desperate for love, attention, and even discipline. Kid-pleasers (cookies, brownies, ect) are most appreciated, but if you don't have time to bake, Oreos are fine, too. Your treat should be delivered by Thursday afternoon to the YWCA, 320 East Market Street. |
